The Fort Mill School District Class of 2017 exceeded the state and national averages on ACT exams. The average composite score for all South Carolina seniors was 18.7, and the national average composite score was 21.0. The average composite score for seniors in the Fort Mill School District was 21.8, compared to an average composite score of 21.7 last year.

For the fourth year in a row, Fort Mill seniors had higher average composite scores on the ACT than seniors in all K-12 school districts in the state. Only seniors at the South Carolina Governor’s School scored higher.

“Our students’ high achievement on the ACT shows us that they are receiving a rigorous education that prepares them for college and other post-graduation plans,” said Superintendent Chuck Epps.  “Once again, the Fort Mill School district has performed well when compared to other districts across both the state and the nation.”

The ACT is a four-hour long exam that tests students in the areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Reading, and Writing. Scores provide information on college readiness and are used by many colleges and universities during the admissions process.
