Nation Ford's Debra Miller receives top honor
Debra Miller named SC Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year

Debra Miller, assistant principal of Nation Ford High School has been named the 2019 South Carolina Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA). This award was presented on Thursday, November 29, 2018 in a surprise announcement at Nation Ford High School. 

Mrs. Miller was selected from an outstanding field of secondary school administrator candidates by a veteran panel of judges. The criteria used in the selection of this coveted award are set by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. State sponsors also include Horace Mann, Herff Jones, and Michelin. 

“We are excited to announce Debra Miller as the SCASA Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year,” said Beth Phibbs, Executive Director of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators. “She is an exceptional educator who is a true advocate for the students and teachers at Nation Ford High School." 

Principal of Nation Ford High School, Jason Johns, stated, “Ms. Miller is a gifted leader. Her shared leadership approach creates a culture of unity among our staff. Debra Miller is an example of a leader who knows it is all about relationships.” 

"We are very proud of Debra, and she is very deserving of this honor.” said Chuck Epps, Fort Mill School District Superintendent, “She is an outstanding assistant principal and educator, who exemplifies the district’s commitment to placing children first.” 

SCASA, the professional organization for school leaders in South Carolina, has more than 

4,300 members. From professional development opportunities and research, to publications and legislative advocacy, SCASA’s focus is to support school leaders in providing the best possible education for South Carolina’s young people. SCASA also works on the national level, as a state affiliate of three national associations for school leaders.
