Four-Year-Old Half Day Program
APPLICATION for 2023-24 4K Half Day Program: Opens February 1, 2023
The Fort Mill Schools provides a half-day, 4-year old program (4K) for qualifying students. Each class is taught by a certified early childhood teacher and a teacher assistant. The classes are housed at Riverview, Fort Mill and Tega Cay Elementary Schools. A child must live in the Fort Mill School District and be 4 years old by Sept. 1 to be considered for the class.
The 4K class provides many experiences in motor, language, and concept development. There is much opportunity for music and movement, art expression, reading, and learning through play centers and group times. The Handwriting Without Tears curriculum is used for beginning handwriting and the Big Day for PreK (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) curriculum will also be used. There is no tuition for the program and a snack is provided. Bus transportation is available. The 4K class runs five days a week with a morning and afternoon session of approximately 2.5 hours each. Twenty children are enrolled in each class.
There are other preschool classes in the district for children with an identified special need and IEP (803-548-8218), and a tuition-based 4K program is connected with each high school. For more information on the full day tuition-based class, please visit their website.
