2020

U.S. News and World Report ranked Fort Mill and Nation Ford high schools the 7th and 10th best high schools in South Carolina.

Forbes Magazine recognized the Fort Mill School District as one of the Best Employers in South Carolina.

Nation Ford High School selected as a finalist for the 2020 Palmetto's Finest award. NFHS is one of only three high schools in the state to be selected as a finalist. They have been named a finalist for two years in a row. 

Student Group Achievements

    • Nation Ford High School's MCJROTC was recognized for its Rifle Team winning their 5th consecutive National Championship and the CyberPatriot Team being named South Carolina State Champions and Qualifiers for the National Championship.

The Fort Mill School District was named to the 10th annual AP District Honor Roll. The AP District Honor Roll honors districts that increase AP course offerings while also maintaining or improving student performance on AP exams.

2018

The Fort Mill School District was named to the 9th annual AP District Honor Roll. The AP District Honor Roll honors districts that increase AP course offerings while also maintaining or improving student performance on AP exams.

Fort Mill High School declared National Blue Ribbon School by US Department of Education.

The 2018 senior classes of Fort Mill and Nation Ford high schools earned a total of $31 million in scholarships. 

The Fort Mill School District Class of 2018 exceeded the state and national averages on ACT exams administered in the spring of 2018. This is the fifth consecutive year Fort Mill School District seniors have posted a higher average composite ACT score than all K-12 school districts in the state.

Nation Ford High School was one of 15 groups in the nation to receive a $10,000 grant from Lemelson-MIT. 

2017

The Fort Mill School District was named to the 8th annual AP District Honor Roll. The AP District Honor Roll honors districts that increase AP course offerings while also maintaining or improving student performance on AP exams.

The Finance Department of the District has received awards from both the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) and the Governmental Finance Officer’s Association’s (GFOA) for excellence in financial reporting for nine consecutive years.

  • Fort Mill High School's Buzz TV won two National Emmys from National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, including one for Best Broadcast .
  • Nation Ford High School Marching Band - AAAA State Marching Band Champions
  • Fort Mill Middle School's Mock Trial Team won the State Championship.
  • Fort Mill High School recognized as among nation's best for efforts in the fight against breast cancer

Recognition of our Staff

Fort Mill Schools Transportation employees named SC Bus Driver of the Year and SC Bus Mechanic of the Year in 2019.

Nation Ford Physics Teacher, Dan Kophazi, was recognized by the SC Dept of Ed Board as a National PAESMT Finalist in 2019.

Gail Vawter of Springfield Middle School received the national Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Training sponsored by the South Carolina State Board of Education.

Fort Mill High School principal Dee Christopher was named 2016 South Carolina High School Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.

Nation Ford High School Band Director Martin Dickey was inducted into the South Carolina Band Directors Hall of Fame on March 15, 2015 at Furman University.

Dr. Chuck Epps was named 2014 Superintendent of the Year by the Career and Technology Education Administrators’ Division of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA).
