  • UPDATE: March 25, 2020
Our district administration, along with our schools and principals, have finalized the schedule for the next steps in our eLearning program. We will continue to use the materials provided during the initial phase of eLearning until we reach the Spring Break holiday.

The district will observe Spring Break, as we traditionally do, to allow a much needed break for our students, parents and staff. This new way of learning, coupled with the stresses caused by the situation in our nation, have been overwhelming for some families. We believe this break will give everyone a chance to reset, rest and prepare to resume the eLearning process following the break.

The eLearning schedule is as follows:
  • March 25 through April 3 – Continue to work on assigned material and lessons

April 4 through April 13 – Spring Break

April 16 and April 17 – Packet pickup at your school for students without access to digital tools at home.

April 16: 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
April 17: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Students can continue to return completed work electronically to their teacher. Students completing paper assignments should keep their work until we return to school or until alternative instructions are determined.

Our teachers continue to be available to help students with questions and the district continues to remain flexible throughout the eLearning process. Any future changes or new information will be communicated as soon as it becomes available.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we have implemented and extended this new program. Please visit for answers to frequently asked questions regarding eLearning and the most up-to-date information on school closures.

    UPDATE: March 24, 2020
Governor Henry McMaster announced today the state is extending the closure of schools through April 30, to slow the spread of the coronavirus.  Our schools and offices will be closed to the public beginning Wednesday, March 25. If you need assistance, please leave a message using the main phone number at your school or the district office and your call will be returned by a staff member in a timely manner.

Our district’s current eLearning plan provides educational materials to students up to the spring break holiday. Our district is currently working on a long-term plan for this extended closure and more details on this plan, including the availability of new materials, will be announced as soon as they are completed.

Our district does currently have plans to continue the meal program into next week. For up-to-date information on route stops and times please visit our district website.

We understand this has and continues to be an overwhelming situation for many in our community. District staff are working hard to support all our families as we navigate these uncertain times together.

  • The district has been notified that Governor Henry McMaster will order the closing of all South Carolina schools beginning Monday, March 16 through the end of the month, with the possibility of extending the closure for a longer period.  In accordance with this order the Fort Mill School District will be closed beginning Monday, March 16.  This includes the cancellation of all afterschool activities and sports.

The Governor’s order is allowing district staff to voluntarily report for work to complete plans for eLearning or distance learning, as well as meal programs similar to our summer meal programs. District staff will receive a separate email with this information.

The district has planned for eLearning as part of the preparation for possible closures and we will be providing parents with more information on this program as soon as possible.

This is a rapidly changing situation, so please check our website at for updates.  We will continue communicate on our social media platforms and via email during the course of this closure.

We thank you for your patience as we finalize the educational plans and navigate the uncertainty of this situation. We hope everyone will remain safe and healthy over the coming weeks. Any new information will be announced as soon as it is available.

COVID-19, more commonly known as the Coronavirus, has continued to spread overseas and there have now been confirmed or presumed cases in the United States. Government agencies are working to prevent or contain any cases identified in the U.S. Our district continues to monitor the situation, and we are working closely with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC) and the South Carolina Department of Education to stay informed of any developments of confirmed cases in the state.

If you have any questions or concerns, contact your health care provider or call the DHEC Care Line at 1-855-472-3432.

Residents who are showing symptoms such as fever, cough or shortness of breath should call their personal doctor or healthcare provider. If an individual doesn’t have a primary care physician, MUSC Health is providing free telehealth screening to all South Carolinians. Anyone experiencing symptoms can visit and use the promo code COVID19 and be screened without having to leave your home.
