School Volunteers

SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS (Non-Athletic Volunteers, Classroom, Trips, Band, etc.)

Thank you for your interest in volunteering in Fort Mill School District. Keeping our students, faculty and staff safe is our top priority. To help ensure safety, background screenings for volunteers are necessary.

Please note the following:

• Prior Year Submittal: Confirm with your student's front office that you are on the approved list.
•  Current Employees, Coaches or Substitutes wishing to volunteer in another capacity: Your background check would already be on file with the district.
• Volunteer cards are no longer issued. 
• Approvals are valid from one school year to the next.
• If you are interested in being a non-athletic volunteer/chaperone for the first time: Please contact the school’s designated school volunteer representative (list below).

First Time School Volunteer with Fort Mill School District?

A social security number is required to submit a background application. A driver’s license is required in the school office for the Ident-a-Kid system. Without these documents, an accurate background screening cannot be performed.

Step 1: Express interest to your student’s teacher or the school representative in the front office.  Provide them your full legal name and email address.

Step 2: The school contact will submit a request in our third-party system, SimpliVerified.

Step 3: You will receive a Background Questionnaire email requesting that personal information be entered and disclosures be signed. The background report will start at this time and is administered by SimpliVerified.

The email will come from automation@instascreen.net and have a subject of Fort Mill School District Background Questionnaire.

Step 4: Human Resources will review reports as they are returned and determine the approval status. School staff will be notified and will notify the Volunteer when their status is determined.
