Fort Mill School District Child Find Notification

Child Find under the IDEA requires Fort Mill Schools to ensure that all children with disabilities residing within the District who need special education and related services are identified, located, and evaluated. This includes all children ages 3 to 21 who attend public or private schools; those who are home schooled; and those who are homeless or are wards of the state.  The Fort Mill School District takes various steps to notify parents of this obligation.  For additional information, contact the Office of Special Services at (803) 548-8122 or childfind@fortmillschools.org.

Referrals from parents are one way the District learns of children who may need special education. Referrals requesting an evaluation to determine the need for special education services must be made in writing to childfind@fortmillschools.org and include the child’s name, address, current school of attendance, and the reason for the referral.
