2021 High School Graduation
2021 High School Graduation
Posted on 03/23/2021

The district was recently informed that the Winthrop Coliseum would not be available for graduation ceremonies this year due to a building construction project beginning in May. Immediately following this information, the district along with our high school principals began evaluating alternate options for graduation ceremonies. The district has determined that graduation ceremonies will take place simultaneously at each high school’s stadium under the following guidelines:

  • Date: Wednesday, June 9
  • Time: 9 a.m.
  • Location: Individual football stadiums.
  • Guests: 4 tickets per graduate will be provided.
  • Seating: Families will be asked to sit together and social distance from other guests under current CDC/DHEC guidelines.
  • Masks: Masks will be required under the current CDC/DHEC guidelines.
  • Rain Delay and Alternate Dates: Should the 9 a.m. time be delayed due to rain, ceremonies will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 9 with additional rain dates set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 10 and Friday, June 11.
  • Livestreaming: All graduation ceremonies will be live streamed for those unable to attend. Details on how to view the livestream will be provided once they are finalized.

In order to accommodate this plan, all high schools will operate on an eLearning schedule on Wednesday, June 9. This will allow for staff to be present at graduation ceremonies, assist in managing the events, and allow our campuses to be open for guests attending the ceremonies without disrupting the school day. This eLearning day will be for high school students only and will not impact elementary or middle school students.

Schools will provide more specific details pertaining to their individual ceremonies once they are available. Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances these plans could change prior to the events. If changes are needed, the district will notify parents as soon as they are determined.
