PATH to the TRAIL
Dear Parents of Rising 6th Graders:
Banks Trail Middle School will be offering the Path to the Trail (PTTT) program for rising 6th grade students to help them successfully transition from elementary school to middle school by engaging in a three-day enrichment curriculum. PTTT will introduce students to the daily routine at Banks Trail and will include three classes a day and lock practice. Students will move from one class to another and begin to familiarize themselves with the schedule of a “typical school day” and layout of the school. The classes will include Effective Study Skills & Organization, Building Peer Relations, and BTMS Basics.
Path to the Trail will be held July 24th -26th with the option of a morning session, 9:00-11:30 a.m., or an afternoon session, 1:00-3:30 p.m. There is a limit of 60 students per session. Enrollment will be on a first come, first serve basis. On the first day of each session, there will be a voluntary parent meeting in the BTMS Media Center between 9:00-9:30 a.m. or 1:00-1:30 p.m., including a tour of the school and a question and answer session with a BTMS administrator.
REGISTRATION WILL OPEN May 12th, 2023 and remain open until all slots are filled or June 28, 2023, whichever comes first. The cost of the program is $90.00, which includes snacks, a spirit wear t-shirt, the cost for staffing and materials, and pizza on the last day. To register for Path to the Trail, access the google form at Google Form PTTT 23. Be sure to complete the form in its entirety including contact information and the preferred session.
The method of payment for PTTT is online at https://www.studentquickpay.com/fort-mill/ on the BTMS website. If you are in need of a financial scholarship, please email Arlene Sunderlage at sunderlagea@fortmillschools.org.
As the program title states, we hope to establish a path for rising 6th graders from elementary school to middle school. Students will have an opportunity to experience the middle school setting, meet teachers and new friends prior to the start of school all while nurturing their confidence in making the change. It is our goal to create successful and confident young adults, and have our newest students comfortable as they begin at Banks Trail this fall. We look forward to meeting your child and you!
